赤青ポリタンクの断層を見極めろ！
実はポリタンクの色は、
赤色と青色が存在し、
出身地域毎に、
馴染みのあるポリタンクの色が真っ二つに分かれる。
東で勢力を誇る赤ポリタンク、
西を地盤とする青ポリタンク、
その境目は一体どこなのか。
赤色と青色ポリタンクの、
断層を見極めるべく調査する。
日本列島を東と西に分け、
その間の中部地方を徹底調査する。
関東圏を出た1つ目の県・静岡県をスタートし、
西に進みながら、
ホームセンターをあたって行く作戦に出る。
静岡市は赤色ポリタンクしか販売されていなかった。
この近辺の人は、
青色ポリタンクの存在すら知らなかった。
藤枝市も赤色ポリタンクしか販売されていなかった。
御前崎市も赤色ポリタンクしか販売されていなかった。
掛川市では赤色ポリタンクに比べると、

豊橋市～田原市では青色ポリタンクに比べると、
数は少ないものの赤色ポリタンクが発見できた。
そして田原市の西側、
渥美地区では青色ポリタンクしか販売されていなかった。
この調査で太平洋側のポリタンク断層は、
東側の端は天竜川周辺、
西側の端は田原市の中間という事が分かった。
長野県内では国道19号線を境に、
東側が赤色、西側が青色、
日本海側で黒部川を境に
東側が赤色、西側が青色、
という結果になった。
赤色と青色に分かれる理由
では、ポリタンクの色が、
赤色と青色、
大きく2色に分かれるのはなぜであろうか。
そもそもポリタンクが誕生したのは1967年。
誕生当時は白色のポリタンクしか販売されていなかった。
しかし白色だと、
水と間違えやすいという理由から、
危険をしっかりとイメージさせる、
赤色のポリタンクが誕生し、
普及し始める。
するとそこにイチャモンをつけたのが、
金にうるさい関西人であった。
関西の小売店から、
ポリタンクの値段を安くするよう、
メーカーに要請した。
そこでメーカー側は、
当時赤の顔料より、
値段が安かった青で作ることになったのだった。
それ以降、西日本の店頭には青色ポリタンクが、
東日本の店頭では赤色ポリタンクが、
売られるようになったと言われている。

青色が存在する事自体を知りませんでした。
このように関東あるいは関西では当たり前でも、
全国的には全然統一されていないものって、
