《世界一受けたい授業》抗がん剤治療の副作用「脱毛」を予防する頭皮冷却キャップ！抗癌剤により脱毛した髪は生えてくるのか？

東京大学医学部教授の浦野泰照先生が、
抗がん剤治療の最先端医療について語る。
抗癌剤はがん細胞を攻撃するように作られているが、
大量に投与すると正常な細胞もダメージを受けてしまい、
口内炎、倦怠感、吐き気など様々な副作用を引き起こす。
その中でも外見に出てしまうのが「脱毛」である。
抗がん剤により、
正常な毛根細胞もダメージを受ける為に、
髪の毛が抜け落ちてしまう。
この問題を解決する為に、
現在は頭皮冷却キャップというものが用いられている。
このキャップは冷却材を流し入れ、
頭皮を冷やすことが出来、
患者はこのキャップを抗がん剤治療の1時間前にかぶるだけ。
脱毛が軽減される理由は、
投与された抗がん剤は血液によって全身をめぐる。
頭皮を冷やすと、
血管が収縮して、
毛根への血流量が減り、
抗癌剤が毛根細胞に届きにくくなるのである。
つまり、
抗がん剤は低い温度になると効果が弱まる為、
脱毛が軽減されるという。

抗がん剤治療における副作用で、
脱毛が起きてしまう現象は、
映画「世界の中心で愛をさけぶ」などの描写でも使用されていた為、
既に有名な話ではありますよね。
抗がん剤の副作用の強弱は、
人によって異なる為、
残念ながら、
この脱毛予防法は誰にでも適用出来るわけではないようです。
かなり強めの副作用が出てしまう人に関しては、
なかなか難しいようですが、
実際の現場では、
抗がん剤治療副作用の脱毛における、
かつら（ウィッグ）の着用者が、
キャップ導入前と比較して3分の1まで激減したらしいので、
大半の方にとっては有効というわけですね。
ちなみに、
「抗がん剤治療の副作用で抜け落ちた髪は再び生えてくるの？」
と疑問に思う方も多いのではないのでしょうか。
実際に私も昔、疑問に思っていたことではあります。
結論をいえば、生えてきます。
抗がん剤治療が終わってから一般的に、
数ヶ月～1年ほどの間に自毛がきちんと生えてきます。
ですから、
抗がん剤の副作用というのは一時的なもので、
慢性的、あるいは後遺症の残るものではございません。
もし抗癌剤治療をためらっている方がいれば、
参考までに頭の隅に入れておいて頂ければ幸いです。
