東京大学医学部教授の浦野泰照先生が、
がんの最先端医療について語る。
癌というのは外科手術で完全に取り除くことが出来れば、
治すことが出来る病気であるが、
少しでも取り残しがあると残ったがん細胞がどんどん増殖して、
再発してしまうところが恐ろしい病であると説明。
そのようながんの恐ろしさを克服する為に、
1mm以下のガンでも発見できる世界初の薬品を浦野先生は紹介。
この薬品は、
がん細胞に含まれる酵素に出会うと光るという性質を持っている。
1ミリのがんは小さ過ぎ、更にがんには色が付いていないので、
肉眼や内視鏡では見えない。
しかしこの薬があれば、
将来的には吹きかけることで、
小さながんも発見出来るようになる。
現在はまだ使用されていないが、
5年以内には人間の身体の中に、
直接これを吹きかけてがん細胞がどこにあるか教えるような、
医療になっていくという。

がんというと非常に恐ろしい病気のように思えますよね。
まぁ実際、非常に恐ろしい病であることには変わりないのですが、
浦野先生が仰るとおり、
がん細胞を外科的手法で完全に取り除いてしまえば治る病気です。
その為には、よく言われることですが、
早期発見早期治療が肝心。
何故ならば、
がんの恐ろしさはこちらも浦野先生が前述致しました、
転移することにあります。
どんなに小さくても転移して、
体中にがんが広がってしまうと、
外科的な手術ではどうしようもすることが出来ないので、
お手上げ、つまり末期の状態となってしまうわけですね。
それを全部外科手術で取り除ければ、
理論上は治るわけですが、
そんな神がかった外科手術を行えるのはブラックジャック位ですし、
何より患者自身の身体がその手術の負担に耐えられないでしょう。
つまりは早期に発見し、取り除くことが何よりも大事なわけですが、
小さなガンは見つけにくい。
そこで今回紹介された薬が必要というわけです。
小さな状態のがんでも早期に発見し、
患者の負担が少ないうちから取り除けてしまうわけなので、
がん根絶とはいかないまでも、
がんで死亡する人の数は激減するでしょうね。
まだ現場医療に反映されるまでには時間がかかるようですが、
一日でも早く現場に投入されることが望まれますね。
