謎の胸の痛みの正体は？
→原因は真っ直ぐな背骨（ストレートバック症候群）
そんな徳田安春先生が視聴者の悩みを解決。
21歳男性 高橋昌彦さん（仮名）の悩み（症状）は以下の通り。
①謎の重く鈍い胸の痛みを感じる。
②痛みには息苦しさを伴う。
③動悸が激しくなる。
④痛むのは主に右胸と左胸の下の部分。
⑤痛みは毎回数分間は続く。
⑥痛み出すと日常生活もままならない。
⑦痛み出したのは7年前（中学2年生の時）。
この男性の場合、
最初の診断（ファーストオピニオン）は、
「原因不明」であった。
徳田安春先生は、「ストレートバック症候群」を、
二度目の診断（セカンドオピニオン）として出した。
ストレートバック症候群とは、
生まれつき真っ直ぐな背骨が影響し、
様々な症状が起こる病。
本来あるべき背骨のカーブがなく生まれた人の場合、
成長と共に背骨に繋がる肋骨も、
背骨の形の影響で次第に変形。
これにより胸の筋肉や神経とのバランスが崩れ、
痛みが生じると考えられている。
男性が成長期である中学生の時に、
最初の症状が出始めたのも急激な成長で、
肋骨に無理がかかり始めたからと類推出来る。
また診察した時に見られる、
首を下げた時のみ痛みがみられる現象も、
この病によく見られる症状である。
そして徳田安春先生はこの病の確実性を高める為、
この病に共通する特徴を見出そうと、
心臓の検査を行った。
ストレートバック症候群の方は、
心臓にも「僧帽弁逸脱症」も併発し易い。
僧帽弁逸脱症とは血液の逆流を防ぐ僧帽弁に、
異常が起こる病である。
実際に男性の場合も僧帽弁に異常が見られた。
そしてストレートバック症候群は通常、
骨の成長が落ち着く20歳前後になると、
筋肉や神経がそれに対応し、
痛みが軽減していくものである。
この男性の場合、
「原因が分からない」という不安やストレスが、
痛みを長引かせる原因となってしまった。
つまり心理的な要素が強いので、
痛みを気にしなくなれば、
そのうち痛みはひいていくと説明された。
